The first procedure would be preparing the things you would be using. You should have some clean water, strips of gauze and some paper towels ready. You should also have your new bag ready. You should have it pre cut. Throw away the old one so you must have the necessary stuff ready.

Remove the shirt you are wearing. You have to place the paper towel in between your skin and underwear. It would make changing your bag in a much clean way. It will help avoid the dirt from being on the underwear and skin as you change.

Hold your skin down using one hand to remove the old piece. Pull that bag away so the stoma will be uncovered completely. Throw it away on the trash bin. See to it that you have a trash bin whenever you are changing so it would just be one reach away to throw old bags away. It would be good if you can shave the hair around that. It helps making the bag stick much better. You will feel less pain as you peal that away too.

Soak some gauze strips on the water and use that in wiping the skin. Pay close attention to the surrounding parts. Wipe your stoma until it becomes clean. Use a paper towel to dry that. Paper towels are the best ones to use since it could absorb better. It will also not stick on your skin.

You may apply some lotion. This would help make the sore lesser. But, you have to think twice of applying it as it will hinder your appliance from sticking much better. Place the new ones. Be certain it sticks. You could use your palms in sticking it.

It is better to change in the morning. During this time, your stoma is smallest in size but still active. Those who have it do this during that time. How many times you would change would depend on the supply and behavior of it. There will be times you can change every other day. There will also be times that you have to change everyday. If that is costly, have it done in the morning.

You should ask for the assistance of your doctor so you could take care of it in a better way. Doctors could recommend the best type of appliance for you.
